The Indian Premier League ( IPL ) is the cricket festival in India. Since its launch, we have witnessed many thrilling matches.
This article covered the five most interesting matches from IPL 2018 that hooked the audience in front of their screens.
So, let’s deep dive into the past.
1. MI vs CSK (April 7) – Winner CSK
We have witnessed many interesting cricket matches so far. This one is surely one of them.
With the contributions from Ishan Kishan, Krunal Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav, Mumbai Indians successfully put up a total of 165 runs on the board.
In the second innings of the match, CSK started with the worst note. They lost wickets in a row and managed to score only 118/8 at 99 balls thanks to the impressive bowling of Mayank Markande.
The result was obvious: CSK would lose, and then Dwayne Bravo came to form and stole the show with his traffic scoring.
He scored 68 runs in just 30 balls and got out in the 19th over. Kedar Jadhav took command and made Chennai Super Kings win the match.
2. SRH vs MI (April 12th) – Winner SRH
Mumbai Indians started the tournament on a bad note. They lost the first two matches of that season. A not so impressive beating done by MI leads to a total of 147 runs only.
In reply, Sunrise Hyderabad started with a very good score, but Bumrah and Markande took wickets regularly and stopped SRH from picking up.
In the last over, SRH was required to make 10 runs with just 1 remaining wicket, and Billy Stanlake was on the pitch.
He managed to score a four at the match’s last ball and pull the win for SRH.
3. SRH vs CSK (April 22nd) – Winner CSK
Thanks to Raina and Dhoni’s impressive battings, CSK scored a decent total of 182 runs. Opposite to CSK’s start, SRK was very lacklustre, and they scored only 71 runs with the loss of 4 wickets.
At that point in time, CSK was looking like a clear winner, but Kane Williamson turned the table and made the round interesting again with one of his best T20 performances.
He had a different plan to make the game worthy enough to watch as he makes his team closer to winning.
However, he got out in the 18th over and then Rashid Khan took the command, and he did miraculous batting by scoring 17 runs in just 4 balls.
At last, SRH couldn’t win the match and fell short only 4 runs, but the epic bating of Kane Williamson and Rashid Khan made the watch joyful for the fans.
4. DD vs KXIP (April 23rd) – Winner KXIP
KXIP started batting first and scored only 143 runs. The cricket pitch was batting-friendly, so the victory for DD seemed to be confirmed.
However, KXIP bowlers had other plans. They managed to build pressure in the whole match; even Shreyas Iyer scored a half-century.
On the last ball, 5 runs were needed to win for DD, and Shreyas Iyer was on the pitch. Majeed grabbed the win for KXIP by 4 runs.
This match was very thrilling and made the day of many viewers.
5. RR vs CSK (May 11th) – Winner RR
Chennai Super Kings scored 176 runs on the tricky pitch while batting first, so it seemed that Chennai had the upper hand over Rajasthan Royals.
At the final over, 12 runs were needed; Dwayne Bravo wasted 3 crucial balls of the last over by just scoring 4 runs. Jos Buttler took the command and scored a huge six on the fourth ball and scored 2 runs in the next ball.
RR managed to win the match with 1 ball left, thanks to a terrific performance by English batsman Jos Buttler who knocked 95* and gave hope to Rajasthan for the playoffs.
